The bench height recommended by Leclerc for this loom is 23 inches (58 cm high). The Nilus II loom models are built using a little taller frame and have a front beam that is 34 1/2 inches (87 cm) high. This height is preferred by taller weavers or those that feel more comfortable sitting a little higher. The bench height recommended by Leclerc for this loom is 26 inches (66 cm high).

Available Weaving Widths

The Nilus 4 or 8 shaft models can be ordered in 36 inch (90 cm), 45 inch (115 cm) and 60 inch (150 cm) weaving widths. In addition a 27 inch (68 cm) 4 shaft version is also available.

The Nilus II looms can be ordered in 36 inch (90 cm), 45 inch (115 cm) and 60 inch (150 cm) weaving widths. A 72 inch (183 cm) 4 shaft Counterbalance model with 2 brakes and 2 treadle sets is also available.

The Nilus looms are all 45 inches (149 cm) tall.

The Nilus II jack looms are 49 inches (125 cm) tall and the Counterbalance is 58 1/2 inches (149 cm) high.

The Nilus II jack looms are 51 inches (130cm) deep for the 4 shaft and 54 inches (137 cm) deep for the 8 shaft.

Shedding Mechanisms

The Nilus looms use a Jack mechanism and can be ordered with either 4 or 8 shafts.

The Nilus II loom models can be ordered with a Jack, Counterbalance or Countermarch mechanism. The Jack model can be 4 or 8 shafts but the Counterbalance can only be 4 shafts and the Countermarch only comes with 8 shafts.

The Nilus 4 shaft can be upgraded to an 8 shaft loom with either Front-Hinged or Back-Hinged Treadles.

Both the Nilus II 4 shaft Counterbalance and Jack looms can be upgraded to an 8 shaft Jack loom with either Front-Hinged or Back-Hinged Treadles.

Heddle Size

The Nilus looms have 10 1/2 inch heddles.

The Nilus II looms have 12 1/2 inch heddles.

The Nilus II 4 shaft Jack and Counterbalance models have folding back legs to stabilize the loom because of the greater depth.
