Penelope III Loom

The Leclerc Penelope III is an excellent loom for beginners and hobbyists who want to learn tapestry weaving techniques. It is also a wonderful workshop tapestry loom for experienced tapestry weavers to practice new techniques and sample projects.

As in bigger tapestry looms like the Leclerc Gobelin, the Penelope III is designed with both a warp and a cloth beam that enable the weaver to wind on many yards of fabric with a finished width of up to 22 1/2 inches (57.2cm). Crank handles on each allow the cloth to be advanced as the weaving progresses and both beams have ratchet mechanisms to allow the weaver to apply a high degree of tension to the warp.

The looms simple A-Frame design allows it to stand securely on a table, but fold flat for storage. The loom has a set of slots 1/3 of the way down from the top that allow Rigid Heddles to be mounted in the warp and moved back and forward to open and close the shed. Unlike the earlier Penelope loom, the Penelope III holds 2 Rigid Heddles expanding the weavers pattern options. In addition, the slots allow the heddle to be locked in place with the shed open. The Penelope III is solidly built using Canadian Maple hardwood like all Leclerc looms.
